On Thursday, the team left Richmond at about two o clock and headed to Southeast Missouri on a six hour bus ride. We stopped in Paducah, Kentucky for a nice team dinner at an Italian restaurant. When we arrived at the hotel, we reviewed the scouting report for our 8pm game the next day against Southeast Missouri State. Therefore we went to bed focusing on the game. On Friday morning we trained on SEMO's field, then headed back to the hotel for just a little relaxing time. But to make sure we didn't lay around and get too tired, we went as a team to see the new Disney movie Secretariat. We all enjoyed the inspirational movie. In our game against Southeast Missouri we played some of our best soccer, but they ended up scoring a goal on us. Unfortunately we couldn't score by the end of regulation play, and we did not get the result we wanted. With a loss under our belt Coach Basalyga was interested in how we would respond on Sunday against Eastern Illinois.
On Saturday we left on our way to Eastern Illinois. When we arrived off the bus we trained at their field. We did not show up ready to practice, and Coach Basalyga was frustrated with us considering we just earned a loss. After training we ate Subway and watched the first half of the Eastern Illinois boys game. That night we had a lovely team dinner at Cody's restaurant, then later went to Steak and Shake for some delicious ice cream. Sunday morning before our game we went for the usual jog and stretch. When it came game time, we played like we practiced the day before. We suffered another 1-0 loss. Therefore making the weekend not as successful as we were hoping for. But we learned that we capable of losing and now we need to focus on how to win on the road.
