EKU Friends of Soccer Player Diary 11

This turned out to be an emotional roller coaster of a week. On Saturday the team went to Kato Hibachi Grill to have a pre-game meal with our seniors. It turned out to be a great time as we watched the chefs slice and dice our food which tasted great! It was good to spend time together as a team, especially the night before our Senior Day Game. On Sunday we had a big game against Morehead State and it was Senior Day. The team not only wanted to do well to get a good seed in the conference tournament but wanted to play well for the seniors who have done so much for the program! The seniors walked out with their parents and were given flowers. It was emotional to watch but our team was ready. We came out ready to play and dominated the possession. We were rewarded when senior Carly Muller scored 25 minutes into the game! Unfortunately we ended up losing 2-1 in double overtime despite dominating a good portion of the game. It was hard not being able to win for our seniors. After the game we honored them with gifts and had a tailgate with the parents which helped make the day a little better.

There was no time for rest as we had another game on Wednesday against Longwood. Once again we started the game really well and created lots of chances. However, we didn’t capitalize on our good play and ended up losing 1-0 in another game we dominated the possession. Although it was disappointing there is no time to put our head down. We know we have a good team and we determined to prove it in the OVC conference tournament next week! We are going to work hard this week so we are ready for EIU. We know we can do it!
