EKU Friends of Soccer Player Diary 3

This weekend we traveled to Lawrence, Kansas to play Kansas University. We didn't go at them in the first 15 minutes of the game and Kansas took full advantage of that and they scored on us in the first 20 minutes of the game. It took us until the second half to actually get into our groove and give Kansas a run for their money. We started to play OUR game and we competed with Kansas. Even though we gained control in the second half, it still wasn't enough to walk away with a win. We lost 3-0. The next morning we had training before we left for St. Louis, where we went to the zoo. Sunday we had a game against SIU-E. Again, we didn't go at them in the first 15 minutes and, again, we were scored on. For some reason our team chemistry wasn't working very well. In the first half, we were playing as individuals and not as a team. After talking at half time, we really went at SIU-E in the second half of the game, but we weren't able to put our dangerous chances away. We walked away from that game with a 2-0 loss. On the scoreboard, we didn't have much success this weekend, but as a whole, we actually figured out what we want out of this season. To be honest, I think this weekend was the turning point of our season. We know what we want, and after talking, we now know HOW to get it.
