Today was her fitness test, and the 2-a-days and her season officially began.
During the fitness test, they had the girls close their eyes and raise their hand if they were stronger in the run than the cone test. About two-thirds of the girls raised their hand, so those girls went first. They were in two groups, and everyone warned Britt that one of the fastest girls was in her group so don't try to keep up with her. So Britt of course decides that this is the girl she is going to pace. Britt said after 3 laps the girl wasn't even breathing hard, but Britt was hanging with her. By lap 5, Britt said the girl was starting to slow down, and Britt always saves a bunch of kick for the last one. In lap 6, Britt poured it on and passed the girl by. So Britt not only passed the test, she finished first in her group. Considering everything she had going against her, we were really happy for her.
Then her Coach announced that everyone that passed the run didn't have to take the cone test, so Britt was relieved.
All in all, there were 6 freshman that didn't pass their fit test; and they have to stay after every practice and run more, which is saying alot.
In the afternoon practice, they did a scrimmage between the Freshmen and the returning players. The Freshman came out first and went one up, then the Returners scored. The Returners managed two more before the half. In the second half they got one more, for a final score of 4-1. I would say the Freshmen actually did really well, considering they had never played together. They have a serious group of players coming in....
Brittany started off as a defensive mid, and played well. She moved to outside defender, and was a little lost where to play. She went back to defensive mid for awhile, and finished at attacking mid. That is the position she likes, but by then it was near the end of the game and most of the girls were out of gas so she didn't get a ton of touches.
When I finally saw Britt, she was dead tired but overall had a good day.
