Today is Monday, August 2, 2010, and it is the start of Brittany's preseason at EKU.
We have tried to convince her to keep a diary (blog), but she doesn't seem to have either the interest or the time. So to keep everyone current, we will make every effort to update the events as we get them.
We started off with a horrible travel day yesterday, our flight was 45 minutes late leaving from Orange County and we only had a one hour connection for our flight to Lexington. I asked the flight attendants if they could notify Operations that we would be on the ground and if they could hold the connecting flight, and they basically said they wouldn't do it. When we landed, I took all of the bags and Brittany literally ran to the gate and got there a few minutes early. Right when she got there, they closed the doors and said sorry. I got to the gate, along with 4 other passengers, a minute early and they had already pushed back. They could not have given a crap less. Of course Lexington is a small airport, so we were stuck waiting 7 hours for the next flight. I will never, ever fly on Continental again. We finally got to Lexington at 11:50p, and the rental car closed at midnight, so that was another sprint. Then they lost our luggage, and when they finally found it, Britt's bag was broke open and some her her clothes were missing. By the time we finally got to the hotel, it was 2a. We went to Steak and Shake and had a burger, we were both starving. Probably not a great idea, in retrospect.
Today Brittany was supposed to take her placement exam at 8a, which we cancelled. They said they might try to reschedule for the afternoon, so we were stuck kinda staying near the University. We finally went to WalMart, and did as much shopping as we could. Brittany had to be back at EKU for a flexibility test at 4p, and then we went to the football field and did a pretty hard workout to see how she would handle the heat (which was totally her idea). Dinner and some more shopping, and we called it a night.
Brittany caught a cold and is not doing well. I have loaded her up on the cold medication, but it is a fine line between making her comfortable and keeping her in the game. We both have had a hard time sleeping.
